The capital of Limpopo is Polokwane, It is South Africa’s largest urban centre north of Gauteng.
Limpopo is one of South Africa’s richest agricultural areas. More than 45% of the R2-billion annual turnover from the Johannesburg Fresh produce Market comes from Limpopo.
Major international mining operations contribute to 20% of Limpopo’s economy, making mining the primary driver of economic activity after government services.
The world’s largest reserves of platinum group metals are to be found in the centre of the province, which also has rich deposits of chrome, vanadium, nickel and titanium.
